Bekker Music will serve as the Festival’s resident instrument support and engagement partner, creating a valuable opportunity for music educators, school music programmes, youth ensembles and community music organisations from across South Africa to engage with one of the country’s leading specialist music suppliers. Their presence will facilitate the sharing of knowledge, expertise and best practice around instrumental music education, instrument provision and the practical challenges facing schools and music programmes. The residency will also provide a platform for educators and practitioners to explore solutions that support the growth and sustainability of instrumental music-making within their own communities.

Alongside this sector engagement, Bekker Music will provide practical support to participating schools, ensembles and project groups through instrument maintenance and repair services, helping to keep valuable instruments in good playing condition. They will also make available essential accessories and equipment that are often difficult to source or replace within constrained budgets.
